Al Ain: Fog will hit the UAE once again this weekend, according to forecasters.

With fog forecast at least for the next three days, forecasters and police have advised motorists on Thursday to exercise caution to avoid mishaps.

A dense early morning fog blanketed most of the country on Thursday morning, causing road accidents and flight diversions at airports. Forecasters said that weather has gradually been changing with contrasting day and night temperatures and high humidity causing the fog.

“Nothing is unusual about it, the only thing people should be worried about is driving carefully in fog affected areas,” said Ahmad Aqeel, a meteorologist. Foggy conditions, he said, demand watchful driving at reduced speed with the low-beam or fog lights on to increase the visibility of their own cars.

He said the condensation of air parcels carrying moisture causes fog and mist in areas where the temperature drops at night. Mostly it happens in the coastal and interior areas. High levels of humidity and calm conditions further contribute to the development of fog, he said.
