Al Ali: Thunderstorm and Scattered showers hit different parts of UAE Wednesday afternoon giving a sigh of relief to the people who have just faced one of the driest winters.

The rain was, though, not considered as sufficient by forecasters offered something to enjoy in cities such as Dubai and Al Ain and the eastern and northern emirates.

In most areas, weather was clear but clouds started appearing at around 4pm that later accumulated for the thundery showdown.

Light rain and thundershowers started in some Al Ain areas at around 5.30pm.

Dubai received its share at around 7.30pm and clouds later moved on to the northern and eastern emirates.

The conditions also affected horizontal visibility in some areas dipping it down to 500 metres.

People in the western region of Abu Dhabi Emirate faced a different situation with dust getting suspended in the air. Strong winds swept in dust from the desert into the area along with the clouds. Horizontal visibility was reportedly dropped down to 1000 metres.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), weather will be partly cloudy Thursday in general.

The amount of clouds is expected to increase in some areas especially in the coastal and western region.

The daytime temperate is likely to increase and wind will be light to moderately rough in general. Sea will also be moderately rough in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderately rough in the Gulf of Oman.
