Chances of thunder and rain as unstable weather remains in UAE, weather bureau says

Dubai: Weather in the UAE will remain unstable on Sunday with chances of thunder and rain until Monday morning due to persistent low pressure, according to the national weather bureau.
"The conditions are partly cloudy to cloudy. Scattered rain accompanied by thunder is expected [Sunday] until Monday morning in all emirates because of the cloud cover," Saleh Al Mashjeri, a weather forecaster at the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), told Gulf News.
Temperatures will range between 27C and 31C in coastal areas, 31C to 36C inland and 25C to 26C in the mountains.
The low pressure coming from Saudi Arabia is expected to weaken on Monday, causing the weather to clear.
Warning
The NCMS urged motorists to exercise caution in slippery road conditions following rainfall in parts of the country.
In a statement on Sunday, the NCMS said that there was light rainfall on Dubai-Al Ain road, while moderate rainfall was recorded in Al Awir and Masafi.
Big trouble
The Arabian Gulf waters will be rough with waves reaching up to 1.5 metres onshore and 3 metres offshore.
The weather bureau has warned against any sea trip.
"We have warned all kinds of boats from heading out to the sea as they may face big trouble," Al Mashjeri said.
There will be moderate to fresh winds in general, causing blowing dust at times, especially on open land, which may decrease visibility across the country.
The north-easterly to north-westerly wind will blow at 20-36km/h in general and may reach 60km/h at times.
On Friday around midnight, light to moderate rain fell across the country with 3.4 millimetres recorded at Abu Dhabi Airport and 4.9 millimetres in Al Hamra.
Dubai and Al Ain recorded 0.2 millimetres while Sharjah received 0.6 millimetres.
The scattered showers over the weekend gave way to pleasant weather conditions across the country on Saturday morning.
A number of Dubai residents seemed pleased with the rain, with many posting comments on Twitter.

Natasha Tomas tweeted: "What a beautiful day! Last night's rain washed everything spotlessly clean! Dubai's shining today!"
Meanwhile, the public are advised to check weather conditions before venturing outdoors for the safety and security of all.
