Al Ain: The mercury was expected to dip further Sunday as strong north-westerly winds were predicted to continue to blow across the country.
Rain was expected in the northern emirates at times and conditions would be partly cloudy in the rest of the country, the national weather bureau said.
The sea will, however, be very rough with waves reaching several metres.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said light to heavy rain Saturday fell on parts of the emirates, particularly Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and other northern emirates. The conditions were partly cloudy and cold in Al Ain.
A duty forecaster said the daytime temperature was likely to decrease and strong winds would blow dust and sand across the open-lands by Sunday afternoon. This could reduce horizontal visibility on certain highways and drivers need to be alert.
Winds would be blowing at the speed of 30 to 40km/h in the coastal areas but it could up to 65km/h at times. “The winds speed is likely to start decreasing at night and tomorrow early morning,” the forecaster said.
Temperatures are Sunday likely to be 13 to 21 degree Celsius in the coastal area, 5C to 23C in the internal, and 1C to 16C in the mountainous areas.
