Al Ain: Get ready for a yet another spell of moderate to heavy rains, thunder and hailstorm as the national weather bureau expects unstable weather in UAE from today (Tuesday).

Temperature will also drop significantly. The cool winds could also kick up dust and sand in some areas. Wind will also make the Arabian Gulf waters rough and unsuitable for fishing trawlers and small boats, said the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) in a weather alert.

Unstable weather is likely to continue until Friday morning and the NCMS has warned seafarers, motorists, and people living in mountainous areas, valleys and low-laying areas to be alert and take precautionary measures. “We expect rainfall on Tuesday evening and night,” said a NCMS forecaster, adding that the weather condition could become more severe on Wednesday.

The centre said that the unstable weather is due to the mixing of surface trough coming in from the Red Sea with the cold upper air trough. This would lead to clouds formation over the western region and later spreading to the rest of the emirates.
It will be hazy and partly cloudy weather today (Tuesday) and the amount of clouds will gradually increase, said the forecaster. “Towering clouds would appear by afternoon over the eastern mountains, with the probability of rainfall due to the deepening of trough in the upper air,” he said.

The wind will be moderate to fresh at first, becoming stronger at times, kicking up dust and sand. Horizontal visibility will be affected in the open and inland areas. Sea will be rough over the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, but will be very rough in the presence of clouds, he said.

“The unstable weather will intensify on Wednesday, resulting in more deepening trough in the upper air,” said the NCMS forecaster. The centre expect thunder and possible hailstorm on Wednesday in some parts of the country.

The forecast said rain is also expected on Thursday, especially in the northern and eastern emirates. The amount of clouds will dissipate gradually from Thursday night and Friday morning, with the probability of some rain in the northern and eastern emirates.
