Al Ain: Light but sporadic rain fell in different parts of emirates on Wednesday as forecasters predict more light to moderate rain to hit the country during the weekend.

The current weather system has been giving rain in Qatar and the Arabian Gulf and its edge has been moving from over the UAE mainly the western and coastal areas of the country.

The Met department recorded partly cloudy to cloudy conditions for the UAE. Some areas in Al Ain received light, sporadic rain along with the Western region and UAE islands in the Arabian Gulf.

On Wednesday, winds blowing at a speed of around 50km generated five to six feet high waves offshore in the Gulf.

"The sea is rough and not suitable for joy bots at all," said the forecasters, adding that sea condition is expected to continue during much of the weekend holidays.

According to the forecast of the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), partly cloudy to cloudy weather will continue on Thursday and on Friday, with chance of light rain over different areas.

Onland winds will be moderate but they may kick up dust and sand at times in the open areas. This could reduce the horizontal visibility particularly in the interior areas. Sea will be Sea will be moderate to rough on Friday.

Temperature on Wednesday recorded between 22c to 33c in the coastal areas, 20c to 41c in the interior areas, and 16c to 30c in the mountainous areas.
