Al Ain: Heavy rain and thunderstorm on Thursday morning hit different parts of the country flooding wadis, roads, and low laying areas as unstable weather continues across the Arabian region.

Heavy rain hits parts of country, fog warning issued

Residents in Ras Al Khaimah said the thunderstorm started at around 4.30am and heavy downpour lashed Wadi Al Sha’am and Wadi Al Ghalilah. Within a few minutes, rainwater flooded the dry streams that later submerged various roads.
Early morning rain also hit parts of Dubai including Jebel Ali, Emirates Road, Business Bay area, Al Barsha, and Mussafah in Abu Dhabi. Motorists also reported light rain on Al Ain-Dubai Road. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said some 3.2mm rain has been recorded in Jabal Jais and Ras Ganadah, and 0.6mm in Wadi Al Sha’am.
Forecasters have warned people to stay away from the Wadis as adventure could cost them dearly. Motorists have also been advised to take precautions in the rainy areas and wet roads.
The maximum daytime temperature on Thursday hovered around 30 degree Celsius, falling down to 17c in the coastal, 14c in the internal and 11c in the mountainous areas at night. A rise in humidity was also reported from some internal and coastal areas.
According to the NCMS forecast, weather will continue to be mild on Friday and conditions could become partly cloudy over some northern and eastern areas. Winds would be light to moderately rough that could gain speed and kick up dust and sand in the internal and open areas.
The sea will be slight to moderately rough while humidity will increase at night and early in the morning in the coastal and internal areas. This could lead to fog formation, especially in the western areas.
