Al Ain: People across the country have been braving sizzling conditions as the temperature has shot up to 45 degrees Celsius in most cities.

Forecasters expect a slight drop in temperature on Tuesday in the coastal areas as north-westerly winds are expected to sweep in from across the sea.

The national weather bureau aexpects fog in some coastal and inland areas on Tuesday morning.

The conditions will, however, remain hot, hazy and partly cloudy at times over the next couple of days.

The weather has created discomfort for people in the Eastern Region of Abu Dhabi as well as in other parts of the country. The maximum high temperature was 45.8 degrees Celsius in Al Ain. Some southern parts of the country have also been suffering from hot winds that also kicked up dust. The country’s hot spot was Umm Al Zumool with the maximum temperature shooting up to 47.8C on Monday.

June is one of the hottest months of the year, and people should expect hot days, said a forecaster, adding that the temperature is still in the normal range for the month.

Cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah have seen increased humidity, pollution from vehicles, and dust. Poor air quality could cause problems for the elderly, young children, and people with respiratory problems, said forecasters.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) the temperature will also remain above 40 degrees Celsius. Some clouds are also expected to appear over the eastern mountains by Tuesday afternoon.

Winds will be light to moderate in general, freshening at times and causing blowing dust in some internal areas. The sea is likely to be slight to moderately rough.
