Dubai: The national weather bureau has warned motorists to exercise caution on the roads early Wednesday and Thursday as scattered mist might form inland and in the western part of the country.

Fog blanketed parts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi early Tuesday morning, including the Al Ghafat area and Liwa.

On Wednesday, scattered mist might form in some areas in the country as humidity is likely to increase in the night and early morning over some coastal and internal areas, according to a weather bulletin by the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.

The next two days there will be fair to partly cloudy conditions during the day, with a further slight increase in temperatures ranging from 18 degrees Celsius to 20C.

While fog and mist are both created by water droplets suspended in the air, the two are not the same.

Fog usually touches ground level and is much more dense because it is an actual cloud. Mist is much lighter compared to fog and tends to last longer. Both can result in poor visibility but fog reduces visibility to less than one kilometre. Mist can reduce visibility to between 1km and 2km.
