Al Ain: Forecasters fear a retreat to warmer weather from Monday onward, saying the prevalent cooler conditions would disappear under the influence of an upper high atmospheric pressure developing over the northern Arabian Sea.

A dry and relatively hot spell is expected from the middle of this month that would take around seven to 10 days to go away. The system will interact with a mid-level low pressure forming over the eastern Mediterranean and result the dry spell across the UAE and the neighbouring GCC countries.

"Much of Oman, UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain will become suddenly warmer. It will seem as we have gone back three weeks into the past, said Ahmad Sajwani, an Emirati meteorologist who has been running a weather portal www.meteo.ae.

He said all the recent weather cooling, triggered by a recent spate of showers, will disappear as the weather will start heating up today (Monday) evening. "I guess Oman needs this dry break more than any country," said Sajwani, noting that the Arabian Sea will also see an end to its tropical season, giving Oman a much-needed break.

Recent torrential rains, thunderstorms, and flash floods have killed more than a dozen people in Oman and caused heavy damage to the public property and civic infrastructure.  Get more weather updates

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has also been indicating a rise in the mercury from Monday saying: "Day temperatures are likely to increase slightly." The conditions would be fair to partly cloudy at times over some areas in the coming days.

Cooler temperatures and north-westerly winds had given a break to the UAE people during the Eid Al Adha holidays and people enjoyed evening outdoor parities and picnics. The approaching conditions are, however, not expected to be uncomfortable though there will be an increase in humidity in the evening and at night.

According to the NCMS, the weather will today be fair in general and partly cloudy at times over some eastern and southern areas. Winds would be light to moderately rough in general, freshening at times in the afternoon. Sea will be slight to moderately rough in general.
