Al Ain: A cold front moving into the UAE is expected to bring rain on Sunday and Monday, said weather authorities, as well as strong Shamal northwesterly winds along the western coastline, northern emirates and eastern mountainous areas.
The national weather bureau said the country recently faced a cold, windy spell but, over the last two days, temperatures have improved.
“The expected system will again cause a significant fall in temperature almost all over the emirates,” said the forecasters.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has issued a weather alert asking boat riders and fishermen to stay onshore as the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman will be stormy during this period.
Strong winds are also likely to kick up dust and sand in open areas that could affect horizontal visibility. The centre also advised motorists to exercise caution in low visibility areas and in the rain affected areas.
Clouds will spread to different areas on Sunday and Monday, setting in partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with a chance of rain. The sea will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough at times in the Sea of Oman, said the centre.
People planning outdoor activities, particularly in the desert, could also experience chilly and windy conditions at night. Forecaster advised them to take warm clothes and other necessary protections and refrain from going deep into the desert.
