Dubai: The slight relief in temperature is temporary and UAE residents are advised to celebrate the brief respite and enjoy the outdoors this week.

The weather in the UAE is going to continue with a cloudy spell for another day with light showers expected in the northern emirates, according to the spokesperson of the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), Abu Dhabi.

The maximum temperature recorded on February 21 was 36.8C which dropped to 27.8C on Sunday with light rains and cloudy weather. The temperature is expected to drop by a couple of degrees more, up to 25C, as the weather will continue to be partly cloudy on Monday.

By Tuesday the clouds are expected to disperse and the temperature will begin to climb by two degrees a day. By the end of the week it will be close to 32 degrees and we will be well on our way to experiencing summer after the brief relief, said the NCMS spokesperson.

In the meanwhile, people around Dubai, Sharjah and the other northern emirates were thrilled to have the cloud cover for a few more days. Sharjah residents welcomed the moderate morning rain which brought relief to the city. Children who stayed away from school were seen playing in little puddles of water.

“We had kept our ubmrellas away but had to hurriedly get those out. However, we are not complaining as anything to prolong this cool weather is welcome,” said V. Santosh, an IT executive from Sharjah who commutes to Dubai for work.

“The winter this year was brief and I am determined to enjoy the tail-end of the cool weather by walking on the beach and organising a quick barbecue with friends,” said Sylvia P., a Dubai-based housewife.

In the meanwhile physicians have issued a general warning to residents to protect themselves from the sudden change in weather which is likely to exacerbate skin rashes and viral attacks.
