Dubai: Two people died and 19 were injured in traffic accidents in Dubai over the past few days.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said that around 6am on Monday, five people sustained minor to moderate injuries in a crash involving a truck and a bus near the Marina Mall intersection.

He said that one of the vehicles ran a red light, which caused the accident.

Also on Monday, a motorcycle driver sustained moderate injuries after crashing into a car at around 12pm at the Al Mulla Plaza intersection.

An Emirati man died after he lost balance and fell off the motorcycle he was driving recklessly in the Dubai World Trade Centre underpass in the Abu Dhabi direction.

Also on Monday, at 6.30am a 4x4 vehicle swerved and overturned after Al Lusaily bridge in the Dubai direction. The driver sustained minor injuries.

Earlier this week, Dubai Police attended to a number of serious accidents.

Last Thursday at 10am a motorcycle driver was injured when he hit another vehicle. He sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Also on Thursday, two people were injured when a car veered off its lane and hit a motorcycle on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road.

The driver, a Bulgarian, and the motorcycle driver sustained minor injuries.

In another accident later that day, a man was severely injured and rushed to hospital after his motorcycle was hit by a black car.

On Friday, an Asian man was killed and another sustained serious injuries when they were run over by a car at 2.30am right before the Business Bay Bridge in the Bur Dubai to Deira direction near Al Jaddaf.

Col Al Mazroui said that on Friday, at around 11.30am, four Asians sustained minor injuries in a two vehicle crash in Al Quoz Industrial Area. The accident was due to one of the drivers entering the road without making sure it was clear.

At 12pm the same day, a man sustained moderate injuries when his motorcycle overturned after swerving in Murghem area.

Two people sustained minor injuries after a driver drove into a lamppost. The car and the lamppost were severely damaged.
