Dubai: A team of officials of the Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) Strategic Planning Dep't recently visited the Dubai Autism Center, and cancer-stricken children at Dubai Hospital as part of its community-oriented initiatives.

The initiatives are aimed at bolstering the links between these patients and various entities in Dubai, particularly those concerned with community issues. The overall objective of the visit is to garner support, be it moral or material, for those individuals in a bid to enhance the quality of services offered to them, and better identify their pressing needs as well as endeavoring to satisfy them.

Such initiatives stem from RTA's keen attention on establishing effective communication and interaction with organization which champion noble causes, said Nasir Hamad Bu Shehab, Director of RTA Strategic Planning.

This was behind the reason to communicate with the Dubai Autism Center and cancer-stricken children at Dubai Hospital in support of the ceaseless efforts made to ensure their welfare, he said.

The visit was to extend all possible cooperation to those who are in dire need of a continual support from all segments of the community, and secondly to urge donors to renew their unlimited support to these patients.

"Our visit to cancer-stricken children at Dubai Hospital is a testament to our social responsibility towards supporting this segment, and reflects the sort of tangible assistance we can manage in a bid to alleviate their pains and sufferings. It also comes in the context of our efforts to raise the community awareness of cancer, preventative measures to be taken, and how to cope with the victims," he added.

Bu Shehab said that the visit to the Dubai Autism Center echoes RTA's efforts to shed light on autistic children and raise the community awareness of this growing plight, with particular emphasis on the huge role of the community in boosting the confidence of these children.
