Dubai: Approximately 1.2 million Silver Nol cards were sold between August 22 and December 31, 2009, the RTA revealed in a press statement.
The number of transactions, dating from the time of the official launch to the end of the year, exceeded 48 million.
This figure includes 262,000 paid-parking transactions for Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) zones.
"From inception, the department has assumed the responsibility of delivering [the] best-in-class services to customers, and was keen on diversifying the channels of service delivery," said Mohammad Al Mudharreb, director of the Unified Automated Fare Collection Department, in the RTA's Corporate Technical Support Services Sector.
"At the top of these channels comes the internet. Other channels include RTA sales outlets such as customer service centres, Metro and bus stations, and RTA-appointed sales agents," he added.
