Roundabout in Sharjah to be closed for one week, say officials
New traffic diversions will be placed tomorrow morning at the Industrial Area 3 roundabout, police officials announced on Tuesday.
Sharjah: New traffic diversions will be placed on Thursday morning at the Industrial Area 3 roundabout, police officials announced on Tuesday.
Sharjah Police, in cooperation with the Directorate of Public Works, will close the roundabout for a week starting from 10am on Thursday morning, to change it into an intersection equipped with traffic signals.
Due to the construction work, two exits will be put in place on the right and left side in order to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Sulaiman Al Hajiri, Head of the Roads Department at the Directorate of Public Works, said the road construction will not affect traffic movement because clear exits will be provided.
Motorists travelling from Esmail Al Buraimi Roundabout on Industrial Road 3 leading to Dubai will have to take the right exit towards Al Maliha Road at the roundabout of Industrial Area 2.
Motorists coming from the Industrial Area 2 roundabout will be diverted to a right exit of Industrial Area 3 to Al Habib Square.
Those coming from Al Habib Square will have to use the right exit towards Industrial Area 1 roundabout, while motorists travelling from Industrial Area 4 roundabout through Al Maliha will have to use the right exit leading towards Dubai.
Lieutenant Abdul Rahman Khatir, head of the road project at Sharjah Police, explained that the roundabout is vital as it is mainly used by the public, in addition to school pupils and students at universities commuting to and from Dubai.
