Petrol stations run out of Super 98 fuel
Restricted timings for fuel tankers to operate on Dubai roads have led to many Emarat petrol stations running out of Super 98 gasoline said a Emarat spokesperson.
Abu Dhabi/Dubai: Restricted timings for fuel tankers to operate on Dubai roads have led to many Emarat petrol stations running out of Super 98 gasoline said a Emarat spokesperson.
Drivers with high end luxury cars that make use of the Super 98 gasoline were left high and dry as they were unable to find their choice of petrol.
A spokesman for Dubai oil retailing company Emarat confirmed that customer complaints about some of their filling stations running out of branded Super 98 gasoline are correct.
“The RTA doesn't allow our fuel carrying tankers to travel during certain hours of the day – in fact, the RTA restrictions apply for seven hours every day, so it's possible, some stations run out of the product, by the time new supplies come in,'' said the spokesman.
“We have 200 stations and our tankers are unable to reach some of the stations on time, given the heavy traffic and congestions on Dubai's roads,'' he said.
As well, the spokesman said each Emarat station has a certain fuel storage capacity and the demand for Super 98 has gone up significantly.
Emarat is in talks with the RTA to resolve the issue, said the spokesman.
"Sorry our tanker is empty" was reply given by attendants working at these stations.
Jannet Anderson who drives a Porsche said: "My car was running on reserve fuel. I was on my way from Al Barsha to Sharjah and had a tough time getting Super 98 petrol. The Emarat petrol stations at Defence roundabout, Garhoud as well as the one located opposite to the Festival City was did not have any.
"A concerned attedant from one of the Emarat petrol stations than asked me to check out with their stations located on way to the Dubai airport road. I was lucky to get the petrol over there."
Ravi Golati a Jumeirah resident, underwent a similar situation. He said: "This is first time that I have come across such a situation. I then went to an Enoc petrol station. The authorities concerned should address the situation as sioon as possible as it really does put motorists in a problem."
