Owners to pay for towing cars parked illegally
Vehicles parked on pavements blocking traffic and pedestrians will be towed away by police at the cost of the owner, a senior police official said on Tuesday.
Dubai: Vehicles parked on pavements blocking traffic and pedestrians will be towed away by police at the cost of the owner, a senior police official said on Tuesday.
Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Deputy Commandant General, has asked traffic police officers to start inspecting places where parking on pavements is common.
He said such motorists will be fined and their vehicles towed away by a police crane. The vehicle owner will bear the cost of the towing service, which is Dh300 and pay a Dh200 fine for blocking traffic.
Major General Al Mazeina said undercover patrols will be deployed soon to monitor traffic offences. They will take pictures of vehicles, though motorists will not know they have been caught on camera.
