Abu Dhabi:  The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrol Department called upon vehicle owners in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Western Region to make use of the remaining grace period to register or renew the registration of their vehicles.

The period ending on May 31 can be used by vehicle owners and drivers to amend their status by renewing registrations, licences or the payment of violation fees, said Colonel Hussain Ahmad Al Harithi, the Abu Dhabi Police Director of Traffic and Patrol Department.

"It should be clear that another grace period will not be given to vehicle owners," said Colonel Al Harithi, adding that starting June 1, any vehicle will be impounded if its expired registration extends over a month.

Colonel Al Harithi said a valid insurance does not necessarily mean that the vehicle is safe to run on the road unless it passes the technical test of the department which is associated with the vehicles registration validity.
