Dubai: Salik transactions may soon be conducted through banks.
Motorists will be able to pay through banks, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said. The RTA has signed cooperation agreements with the Dubai Islamic Bank and Emirates International Bank.
Salah Al Marzouqi, Director of the Intelligent Traffic Systems Department at the RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, said: "An integrated package of interactive services is on offer to Salik subscribers, including the website (www.salik.ae), which is attracting a huge number of visitors as it is readily accessible, and provides the type and volume of information required by web visitors.
"Subscribers are offered several options to top up their accounts including credit cards, e-dirham or direct deduction from bank accounts under the Dubai eGovernment system. The number of subscribers to the Salik portal exceeded 300,000 individuals since the inception of the service in 2007; a fact which underlines the confidence pinned by customers in e-services. Customers also have the option to use traditional methods in topping up their accounts through visiting a number of petrol stations such as Epco, Enoc and Adnoc, or branches of Dubai Islamic Bank or Emirates International Bank.
Interactive
"Services offered also include an interactive voice response system which enables customers to review their account balances and toll gates usage details, and may even request account records through SMS. This could be processed through contacting the Salik Call Centre on 800-72545, and following voice directions. The RTA will shortly unveil new and prompt services to top-up account balances."
He called on subscribers to ensure the correct entry of their account number and pin code when topping up Salik accounts.
