Dubai: There was a significant increase of 11.2 per cent last year in the number of passengers using public buses in Dubai, a senior official has said.
Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dossari, CEO of the Public Transport Agency at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, said in a press release on Monday that the RTA had transported about 105 million passengers in more than three million bus trips on 106 local routes in addition to carrying more than 14 million passengers on 362,000 inter-city bus trips on 15 routes.
It brought the total bus passengers in 2009 to more than 119 million compared to 107 million passengers in 2008 — an increase of 11.2% in one year.
