Dubai: The Licensing Agency at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to open five new centres in Dubai in 2010 for vehicle testing, registration and licensing services.

"The centres intended to be opened in 2010 are aimed to reduce crowds, expedite the work flow, and save both time and effort," said Ahmad Hashim Behroozian, chief executive officer of Licensing Agency.

The centres will be located in various parts of Dubai, particularly the densely populated areas.

"The agency is conducting a comprehensive field study to select appropriate locations for the construction of the new centres," the official said.

Site visits

A team will be formed to undertake site visits, he said.

"[The team will] take into consideration a number of elements such as the lack of a nearby licensing centre, and that the new location does not impact traffic flow… Accordingly, the initial approval is issued, following which all engineering drawings pertaining to the technical testing centre, the vehicle registration offices, and parking lot will have to be submitted."

Partnership

"The agency has signed partnership agreements with five strategic partners for vehicle testing and registration. These are ENOC (Tasjeel), Emarat (Shamil), Tamam, Wasil and Tumooh Group."

He added that through these partners 12 centres have been opened.

ENOC Tasjeel has centres at Al Qusais, Warsan, Al Aweer, Al Barsha, Jebel Ali and Hatta.

Emarat (Shamil) has centres at Al Muhaisnah, Nad Al Hamar and Adhid.

Tamam has centres at Al Aweer Industrial Area, Wasil at Al Wasl area and Tumooh Group at Al Twar Centre.
