Dubai: Motorists in Dubai will be able to renew their vehicle registration and driving licence over the phone from November 1, said a senior official at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
"Instead of drivig down to RTA offices and waiting in queues, customers can simply call the customer service number of the RTA to renew their vehicle registrations," Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA said on Saturday.
The new sevice will also help motorists pay their traffic fines by calling 8009090. The service, the first of its kind across the Middle East, will be offered round-the-clock.
The RTA call centre agent will take all the details related to the renewal of vehicle registrations or the driving licences and payment will be made using credit cards. The transaction takes 10 minutes and a copy of the vehicle registration card or driving licence will be e-mailed to the customer pending the delivery of the original registration or driving licence card by express courier mail.
Earlier this month, the RTA announced that motorists in the UAE can now renew their driving licences and vehicle registrations at RTA facilities in Dubai.
"The facility to get the car registration and driving licences issued from other emirates will be available in Dubai with effect from October 5 at selected offices of the RTA in Dubai," said Ahmad Hashim Behroozian, Chief Executive Officer of the RTA’ Licensing Agency.
The service will initially be available at the RTA Main Customer Service Centre at Umm Al Ramool, Deira Licencing Centre and Al Barsha Licensing Centre. The number of centres offering these services will increase gradually.
