Investigation reveals that reckless driving caused deadly traffic accident in Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah: A 23-year-old Asian driver was killed on Saturday when his truck - overloaded with small stones - overturned on airport road in Ras Al Khaimah, said Captain Salem Mohammad Bu Ruqaiba, head of the Traffic department in Al Digdaga police station.
Bu Ruqaiba told Gulf News on Monday that the accident happened at around 5pm when the driver lost control of the vehicle after trying to avoid a road barrier.
"The vehicle completely overturned and contents of the truck were scattered on the road," he said.
Bu Ruqaiba said that police patrols, paramedics and an ambulance reached the site of the accident immediately. The driver was killed on the spot due to the impact of the accident. His body was transferred to the hospital, Bu Ruqaiba added
The civil defence team cleared the road of small stones while police patrol regulated the traffic movement, said Bu Ruqaiba
Investigations revealed that the truck driver was reckless and did not pay attention to the road, said Bu Ruqaiba
Bu Ruqaiba appealed to drivers to abide by traffic laws and pay attention to the road in order to avoid such accidents.
