Al Nahda Bridge partially open to traffic
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) partially opened the Al Nahda Bridge to traffic in the direction of Emirates Road towards Al Ittihad Road on Saturday.
Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) partially opened the Al Nahda Bridge to traffic in the direction of Emirates Road towards Al Ittihad Road on Saturday.
The second part of the bridge in the direction of Al Ittihad Road to Emirates Road is set to be opened in early July.
The Al Nahda Bridge is part of the Al Nahda-Beirut Roads Interchange Project on which construction work started in February 2007 at a cost of Dh290 million.
The project includes construction of the northern part of the Dubai Airport Tunnel in a sector extending from the Al Quds-Beirut Interchange up to the Al Nahda-Beirut Interchange as a highway. It comprises transforming the Al Nahda-Beirut Road interchange from a light signal-controlled intersection into an interchange with separate levels through constructing a flyover on Al Nahda Road, in addition to an underpass on Beirut Road.
This will improve traffic flow on the two roads and ensure smooth vehicle flow on Beirut Road from and to the Airport Tunnel.
Smooth flow
Maitha Obaid Bin Udai, CEO of the RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, said that work is up and running regarding the construction of the Arabian Ranches Interchange; which is scheduled to partially open in August this year. "The project aims to provide smooth traffic flow in all directions in separate lanes. It includes replacement of the existing roundabout at the junction of Emirates Road with Umm Suqueim Road and Al Qudrah Road, by a giant interchange consisting of 11 bridges and an underpass."
