Sharjah: The Sharjah Media Centre (SMC) has announced that it has signed an agreement with Live Nation Entertainment, a live entertainment and ecommerce company, for the venue management of the Al Majaz Island Theatre for a period of three years. The completed theatre will act as the hub for all of Sharjah’s cultural activities and will be the focal point for the celebrations of Sharjah’s tenure as the 2014 Capital of Islamic Culture, explained Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Head of the Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital Executive Committee. He added that Live Nation was selected after careful and in-depth research was conducted to identify the best possible venue management company.

The Al Majaz Island Theatre will be the world leading entertainment company’s first venue in the Middle East.

“Live Nation Entertainment will bring its global experience in venue, show and ticketing management [ticketmaster.ae] to ensure this special new venue embodies the highest of operational and production values,” said Tyler Mervyn, managing director, Live Nation Middle East.

Under the terms of the agreement, Live Nation will develop and implement all relevant policies and procedures for operating the venue, in line with the Live Nation Entertainment group’s global standard practices for venue operation. Live Nation will also provide recommendations on all IT systems to be installed in the venue including financial management, venue event management, customer databases, email, point-of-sale, telephone, stock control, access systems, security and sponsor program software. It will also develop department training programmes for all venue staff to ensure the highest standards of operation.
