Abu Dhabi: A new session on media training and a field visit exercise have been added to the 2013 curriculum of the Abu Dhabi Ambassador programme, The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA) announced yesterday. The initiative aims to train Emiratis to help tourists experience every aspect of the city and leave with positive memories and impressions of the capital and its people.

A total of 130 would-be ambassadors from Abu Dhabi’s public and private sectors enrolled for a 12-week programme to enhance interaction between Emiratis and visitors.
The successful applicants will embark on the Abu Dhabi Ambassador programme, which is a UAE-nationals-only initiative, to promote the UAE’s rich culture and heritage to visitors and tourists.
“We are continually evolving the programme to reflect the growth and development of the destination and the increasing role that Emiratis play in its development,” said Mohammad Al Marzouqi, senior emiratisation executive at TCA.
“The programme also increases the awareness of Abu Dhabi’s expanding tourism offering among the ambassador ranks through visits to various heritage, cultural and tourist attractions,” Al Marzouqi added.
The Abu Dhabi Ambassador programme was launched in 2008 and, since when, over 227 Emiratis have completed the programme.
“The Abu Dhabi Ambassador programme has picked up an incredible momentum fuelled by wider appreciation among Emiratis of the benefits tourism can bring to their home country,” said Nasser Al Reyami, tourism standards director at TCA.
