Dubai: Used Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) cabs are to be sold through online auctions after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) signed an agreement with Tejari.

“This initiative offers a simple, smooth and transparent process for the public to submit bids for more than 1,500 taxicabs that are being dispensed with every year,” said Ahmad Mohammad Al Hammadi, Acting CEO of DTC. “Tejari will take care of the technological services and operate the scheduled online auctions.”

Describing the auction process, he added: “The auctioned vehicles will be awarded to the highest bidders in a process that enables potential buyers to submit bids and view their competitive standings online.”

The entire process will be managed via a central web portal through which the new batch of the would-be auctioned used taxicabs will be announced.

“Interested bidders will be able to register their names online for taking part in the auction and get involved in a live broadcast online,” Al Hammadi said.

Tejari CEO, Nader Sabbaghian, said: “The agreement underscores the unqualified readiness to adopt technological developments and Tejari takes pride in supporting the shift of the Dubai Taxi Corporation towards this creative auctioning platform.

“This partnership offers us a great opportunity to showcase the real capabilities of the internet tools in selling large-scale commercial assets.”
