Dubai: The Licensing Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 100 distinguished licensing plates for vehicles comprising three, four and five-digit numbers bearing codes (J, L, M, N, O, K, G, H).
Registration for the online auction started on July 8 and will be open until the start of the three-day auction on July 15.
Mohammad Abdul Karim Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing at RTA, said that the authority is extending its efforts to provide handy outlets for selling plates demanded by a large chunk of the community.
Auctions have been very popular as they give various community members the liberty to select and obtain their fancied numbers in a flexible and clear process offering full transparency, he explained.
“Participation in the auction, which lasts for three days only, requires bidders to log in to RTA website (www.rta.ae), or use the New Username link to obtain a username and password. Registering a new user requires the user to have a vehicle registered in Dubai Emirate or a driver license issued from the emirate,” added Nimat.
A potential bidder has to deposit a financial security amounting to Dh5,00 refundable in case no successful bid is made. The deposit can be paid through RTA portal by means of a credit card, e-dirham, or a cheque submitted to RTA customer service center at Umm Ramool, Bur Dubai, Deira or Al Tawar Municipal Centre. Bidders can also contact the Customer Service Team through the toll-free number 8009090 of RTA Call Centre.
