Abu Dhabi: In order to encourage road safety, a series of activities are planned across the capital from next week, the Abu Dhabi Police announced in a statement sent today (Saturday).
The activities will be conducted as part of the Gulf Traffic Week campaign in Abu Dhabi emirate, and will run from March 9 to 15.
Brigadier Hussain Al Harithi, director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police, said that such awareness initiatives conducted in the past have reduced the number of traffic fatalities. However, police efforts aim to reduce this mortality rate to zero.
A number of exhibitions and competitions will be launched during the Traffic Week at malls and other public spaces, the statement said. These initiatives will reach out especially to motorists because human error and behaviour are the causes for the greatest number of accidents.
