Abu Dhabi: Residents across the emirate of Abu Dhabi have been urged to follow rules and regulations issued by the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate during the upcoming National Day celebrations.

Residents must not gather in non-designated streets, or overload their vehicles

The regulations include a ban on parades in non-designated streets and residential areas. The Ministry of Interior will soon announce which roads can be used for celebrations.
While motorists can decorate their cars with stickers and colours, these are only allowed from November 30 until December 3, the directorate announced in a statement sent on Thursday.
Motorists found to be violating the regulations could have their vehicles suspended for up to three months. In addition, fines of Dh2,000 could be issued, and motorists could earn 12 black points, the statement added.
Motorists must not overload their vehicles during the celebrations, or peer out from windows and sunroofs. They must not tint windows and mirrors with very dark colours, or cover their license plates with decorations.
The statement also requested residents to refrain from equipping cars with loudspeakers and playing loud music that could be an inconvenience to others.
The use of sprays has also been banned during National Day celebrations. In addition, motorists must not park their cars in non-designated areas, including side lanes, bus stops and taxi stops.
In addition, motorists and passengers must not stop vehicles in the middle of the road and exit them. Dancing on the road, or wearing immodest clothing, is also banned.
To avoid congestion in the city, residents who wish to decorate their vehicles must approach workshops in Mussaffah area.
Last year, the Abu Dhabi Police suspended nearly 270 vehicles for violations on National Day. The Traffic and Patrols Directorate is therefore urging all residents to abide by the directives issued.
