Ras Al Khaimah: Motorists violating Ras Al Khaimah Police guidelines for car decoration and car parades during National Day celebrations will attract hefty penalties including confiscation of cars for a period of one month, a Dh2,000 fine and 12 black points.

The guidelines issued by the police on Saturday strictly prohibits any unauthorised car parades during the celebrations.

Brigadier Mohammad Al Noubi, Deputy General Commander of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the police will immediately impound vehicles blocking traffic and damaging public property such as pavements and landscaping. These vehicles will be later moved to the main impound lots for a one-month period and vehicle owners shall pay a Dh2,000 fine and get 12 black points.

He urged motorists to comply with the police guidelines, which insist that the vehicle’s colour must remain unchanged and inappropriate and/or obscene words and phrases must not be pasted on the body of the car.

Vehicles should not carry more than the permitted number of people and passengers must not stick any part of their body out of the vehicle. Tinting or colouring windscreens is also banned, Al Noubi said

He also warned motorists from stopping their vehicles in the middle of the road and spraying paint on others.

He urged motorists to follow police instructions and traffic laws in order to enjoy the celebration.
