Dubai: Four accidents were reported on Saturday, one of which caused the temporary closure of five lanes on Emirates Road.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said that a truck overturned on Emirates Road at 6pm on Saturday, killing the driver and causing a diesel spill. Five lanes were temporary closed to traffic due to the spill.

The accident took place after Al Ruwaiyah Bridge in the Abu Dhabi direction.

Saturday also saw three accidents in which people were knocked down by vehicles.

The official said that a person was run over on Al Qudra street on Saturday and two vehicles collided at around 2am leaving one person seriously injured and the other with moderate injuries.

Another accident saw a person run over on Mohammad Bin Zayed Road at 3:30am on Saturday.

Col Al Mazroui added that one person was seriously injured, also on Saturday, at 7:30am, after being knocked down by a motorist on Oman Road.

In another accident, a light vehicle flipped over on Shaikh Zayed Road in the Dubai direction at 2:45pm on Friday. The driver, a Kuwaiti, sustained moderate injuries.
