No increase in the Basic Abu Dhabi Plan premium , says Daman

Abu Dhabi: The National Health Insurance Company (Daman) announced that it would continue selling the Basic Abu Dhabi Plan at the existing premium throughout 2010.

The decision came following an agreement with the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HA-AD) aiming to serve the best interest of all members enrolled in the Basic Health Insurance Scheme (Abu Dhabi Plan) as well as their employers.

Daman confirmed that it will continue to provide coverage to its members enrolled in the Health Insurance Scheme at its network of healthcare providers in Abu Dhabi with an annual limit of Dh250,000.

Khaled Al Qubaisi, Chairman of Daman, stated that the decision is one of the many measures taken by the government of Abu Dhabi in providing affordable quality healthcare services to the Emirate's residents and employees.

Daman's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Michael Bitzer said: "Despite the increasing cost of healthcare, we've managed to maintain the AED 600 premium for the 4th consecutive year, and we will continue to work with all healthcare provider, as well as HA-AD, in order to stabilize their healthcare costs."

Daman has exclusively been offering the government subsidized Abu Dhabi basic plan since 2005 in accordance with Law No .23 for year 2005 regarding the Health Insurance Scheme and its Executive Regulations.

The Basic Plan is issued to those with an income of Dh4,000 with accommodation or Dh5,000 without accommodation.

To date, Daman covers more than 940,000 members under the Basic Abu Dhabi Plan in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Plan offers coverage throughout Daman's network of providers in Abu Dhabi at an annual limit of AED 250,000. It also provides emergency coverage throughout the UAE.
