Sharjah: The driver of a speeding car was taken into police custody following an accident on Monday that left a 35-year-old Pakistani man seriously injured, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The driver was questioned at Al Gharb police station.

The victim, identified as M.J.A., was seriously injured and was taken to the intensivbe care unit of Al Qasimi Hospital after being run over accidentally by the speeding car.

The accident took place at around 1pm.

An official at Al Qasimi Hospital said that the man was admitted into the ICU and he was critical as he was hit on the head.

The man sustained serious injuries and fractures, according to the medical report, an official said.

Meanwhile, An Asian worker succumbed to fatal injuries sustained on Sunday after being injured in his work place at a workshop in Sharjah industrial area, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The 26-year-old Indian worker, identified as P.Sh., had been taken to Al Kuwaiti Hospital for treatment.

Later he was transferred to Al Qasimi Hospital where he died.

The body of the deceased was transferred to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy.
