Sharjah: A 62-year-old Indian man died and his wife, 53, was seriously injured in a car accident in Sharjah on Tuesday, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The driver of a second car involved in the accident, a 32-year-old Arab man, was also seriously injured.

The accident occurred in the Al Qasba area of Sharjah.

The accident took place around 12.30am when a vehicle collided with the deceased’s vehicle and flipped over on Sharjah Road.

Police and paramedics found one person dead at the accident scene.

Preliminary investigations showed that the deceased victim lost control over his vehicle, after being hit by another.

Then the victim’s vehicle veered off the road and overturned several times.

The body of the deceased was transferred to Al Kuwaiti Hospital to be handed over to his family later, while the injured were transferred to Al Qasimi Hospital where their condition was described as critical at press time.

Al Buhairah Police launched an investigation into the accident.

Sharjah Police urged motorists to pay attention while driving and abide by speed limits on the road.
