Ras Al Khaimah: A 24-year-old Emirati died after his car veered off the road, rolled over and ended up on its roof in the bottom of a valley in Ras Al Khaimah, a senior police official said.

Colonel Ali Saeed Al Elkum, Director of Ras Al Khaimah Traffic and Patrols Department, said the police operations room received a call in the early hours of Tuesday morning saying a car was in the bottom of a valley and its driver was trapped inside.

Police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene where they found the victim, identified as R. M.Kh., already dead. His body was transferred to hospital in preparation to hand him over to his family for burial.

Col Al Elkum said the incident took place when the victim was driving home from work along the Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road in the Kadra area.

He urged all motorists to rest if they feel tired, to avoid speeding to avoid such tragic incidents and to abide by traffic rules for their own safety and the safety of other road users.
