Dubai: Train service at the Karama Metro Station went back to normal on Saturday morning following a technical glitch that caused operations to temporarily grind to a halt on Friday.

Commuters said the train service on the Red Line went back on schedule on Saturday morning although the train leaving the Rashidiya Metro Station was about 10 minutes late. All other stations operated smoothly.
Ramadan Abdullah, Director of Operations at RTA’s Rail Agency told Gulf News on Friday that service was delayed in only one direction of the Red Line and services on other direction ran on schedule. An alternative bus service was provided until the service went back to normal.
Metro users who were heading towards Jebel Ali said they were informed ahead of time about the technical glitch.
“At the Union Station, we were informed that there was a problem in the Metro so we decided to transfer to the Green Line. The trains supposedly heading to Jebel Ali were diverted to the other side to carry passengers to Rashidiya instead,” Mark Sid Reyes, a commuter, told Gulf News.
Other commuters weren’t as lucky.
“It was a horrible journey yesterday night,” a Gulf News reader said in a web comment.
“Though we understand that mechanical failures are common, we were asked to get down at the Business Bay Station and were told that feeder buses will drop us to our destination. Till 11:45 pm no buses were in sight,” she added.
Gulf News repeatedly tried to contact RTA officials on Saturday but none could be reached for comment as of press time.
