Dubai : The names of 8,000 Emiratis benefiting from the Housing Programme, which was ordered by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will be announced on Sunday.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, made the announcement on Saturday.

The establishment of the Dh10 billion housing programme was ordered by Shaikh Mohammad earlier in 2006 before the setting up of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing Establishment with a paid up capital of Dh12 billion, to finance housing for UAE nationals in Dubai.

The programme and the establishment were initiated by Shaikh Mohammad to tackle the housing needs of UAE nationals, Shaikh Hamdan said.

"Shaikh Mohammad's initiative to construct 40,000 houses for UAE nationals came as no surprise, especially it came from a man who makes successes every day and continues his march of giving to support the stability and security of the country and its citizens," Shaikh Hamdan noted.

He pointed out that the programme used to meet the needs of 1,500 to 2,000 applicants in the previous two years, but this year it will cover 8,000 beneficiaries whose housing assistance will be paid in five payments.
