Sharjah Ruler orders Dh600m to be paid to residents in emirate

Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered Dh600 million in compensation for Emiratis whose properties have been affected by development and urban projects in the emirate.

Shaikh Sultan made the order when he visited the Central Finance Department in Sharjah yesterday.

A total of 909 Emiratis will benefit from the compensation, the second of its kind this year.

The Dh600 million will be divided into Dh147 million for Emiratis in 18 residential areas in Sharjah. A total of Dh81.6 million in compensation will be given to Emiratis in Kalba, Dh26 million for Emiratis in Dibba Al Hosn, and Dh281 million for Khor Fakkan.

In the Central Region, Shaikh Sultan ordered compensation for 91 beneficiaries with new houses, in addition to land plots and Dh250,000 for people whose properties were affected by projects

Meanwhile, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the Shaikh Zayed Housing Programme (SZHP), has approved the names of 625 beneficiaries entitled for loans and grants as housing aid for the current year in all emirates.

About 40 per cent of the number of beneficiaries with monthly salaries above Dh10,000 and 60 per cent below this amount will make up for the total housing assistance.

According to SZHP board, Shaikh Nahyan issued instructions to announce the name of the beneficiaries from the housing assistance programme on monthly basis to alleviate pressure on the programme partners from local and federal entities.
