Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Health will today announce a comprehensive plan to start a nationwide campaign for H1N1 vaccinations.
The National Committee for Combating Swine Flu will hold a meeting with the minister of health, Dr Hanif Hassan, and the head of the committee, Dr Mahmoud Fekry, in the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) in Abu Dhabi. Experts from World Health Organisation will be taking part.
Dr Hassan will then hold a press conference to explain the full details of the campaign and the UAE's strategy to vaccinate residents.
Dr Hassan will be the first person in the UAE to receive the vaccine and will be vaccinated after the meeting at the ECSSR.
The campaign will be announced via TV, radio, newspapers and through brochures and posters in Arabic, English and Urdu.
Sources at the committee told Gulf News the vaccination will be optional and free of charge for everyone, and it will be available at 35 clinics, preventive medication centres and hospitals across all emirates.
