UAE Health Minister inaugurates new clinic at Wadi Al Hilou and inspects facilities
Another remote-area based health clinic was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by Humaid Al Qutami, Health Minister.
Wadi Al Hilou: Another remote-area based health clinic was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by Humaid Al Qutami, Health Minister.
The minister also inspected the new medical facilities in Wadi Al Hilou.
The mountainous area lies between the two Sharjah towns of Al Dhaid and Kalba on the east coast and has a population of just over 1,300 Emiratis and expatriates.
The new centre has been in operation since early January replacing the previous centre, which lacked essential medical services.
The new Wadi Al Hilou centre has facilities such as an X-Ray room, a laboratory for blood and other basic tests and a first aid and emergency room, essential in an area located on a notoriously dangerous road.
The centre will have a medical staff of ten, including two general practitioners and a dentist.
Mariam Al Mazrou'ei, the centre's in-charge, said the new facilities would be a welcome addition to the area and hopes it would be the start of more growth.
“The new facilities will help us meet local medical need, which is in constant increase as more services come into the area bringing more residents.
“The centre will, in particular, help us provide better treatment to the local schools and look after long-term patients of high blood pressure and diabetes,'' she said.
The minister later visited Fujairah Hospital to meet local medical officials and stressed more medical facilities will be opened all over the country before the end of the year, including the new Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in Fujairah.
