Abu Dhabi: The UAE is completely free of bird flu and a fool-proof monitoring system is in place at border checkpoints to prevent any infiltration of the disease into the country, said the Minister of Environment and Water.
"The UAE is free of avian influenza. Laboratories across the country have not detected any case of bird flu so far. All samples tested and analysed by quarantine inspectors have also shown no traces of the disease," said Dr Mohammad Saeed Al Kindi.
"We are exercising utmost caution to ensure safety of any shipment coming to the country," he told the Arabic daily Al Ittihad.
