Dubai: Smoking is a social crime that has an influence on families and could weaken sexual performance and potency, warned a social counsellor yesterday.

"Smoking is a dangerous and devastating habit which results in different social and health hazards that affect families and societies. It affects fertility and weakens sexual performance besides the frequent health effects it causes," said Abdul Aziz Al Hammadi, a family and social counsellor at the Family Guidance and Reconciliation Section at Dubai Courts yesterday.

He warned that selling, promoting or distributing any kind of smoke is a social crime. He said a woman came to him once about her husband's smoking habit.
