Dubai: The Rashid Hospital was given accreditation as a World Training Centre in Anaesthesiology by Montpellier University 1 in France on Monday.
The accreditation was awarded during the first graduation ceremony of the Regional Anaesthesia and Analgesia Diploma.
The diploma, approved by the French university, is organised by the Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences and supported by Rashid Hospital. At the ceremony, which took place at Grand Hyatt.
Thirty-one anaesthetists from the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Iran, and Kenya were honoured.
An intensive educational program on the use of regional anaesthesia techniques has been in place since 2010 at the hospital's Trauma Centre that has trained more than 200 anaesthesiologists from the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
