Dubai: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, AXA Gulf, in cooperation with Al Zahra Hospital, created a Guinness World Record by having 2,240 blood cholesterol readings in eight hours in a single venue.

The partners initiated the ‘Let’s beat it’ campaign at the Ibn Battuta Mall from 2pm-10pm on October 10 which got a tremendous response from people.

The venue had thousands coming in to check their blood cholesterol.

Sixty nurses from Al Zahra Hospital Dubai performed the tests and recorded the results in less than five minutes, all along the eight-hour time-frame. Dubai residents also had the chance to seek the advice of a cardiologist, dietician and a family doctor at the event for further consultation.

At the end of the event, the CEOs of AXA Gulf and Al Zahra Hospital Dubai received the official certificate recording the significant achievement from Samer Khallouf, Guinness World Records Project Manager.

The event ended with a raffle draw, with 20 participants winning ten free health insurance packages for one year from AXA and ten winners for health check-ups at Al Zahra Hospital Dubai.

Jerome Droesch, CEO of AXA Gulf, was delighted with the success of the campaign and said: “This is the first time an insurance company in the GCC has achieved such a record, and we’re very proud of this achievement. Our objective was above all to raise public awareness on cardiovascular diseases and I think it was more than successful.”

Dr Mohayem Abdelghany, CEO of Al Zahra Hospital, commended his staff for the spectacular effort: “We are delighted to achieve this record and see a high level of participation. As part of this campaign, we are strongly advocating lifestyle changes, followed by risk reduction. This campaign is only the start and I am sure it will encourage more and more people to raise awareness through unique initiatives.”
