Abu Dhabi: Nearly 20 per cent of married Emirati couples and 17 per cent of expatriate couples in the emirate of Abu Dhabi face fertility concerns once during their reproductive lifespans, a study has found.

The research was conducted by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha), which manages and operates public health-care facilities in the emirate. To offer treatment for these couples, the capital’s oldest maternity hospital, Corniche Hospital, today (February 1) launched its own fertility centre.

The centre will offer assisted reproductive techniques for married couples, including in-vitro fertilisation, intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis.
