Dubai: The Ministry of Health has organised a blood donation campaign with the Ministry of Labour and Ministy of Social Affairs.

The campaign has reportedly received an encouraging response and at least 100 blood units have been collected.

Saqer Ghobash, Minister of Labour, and Mariam Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, were among the first blood donors in the mobile blood donation drive which was organised by the Ministry of Health in the headquarters of the two ministries in Dubai. 

Amin Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Practices and Licensing and Chairman of the Blood Transfusion Higher Committee, lauded the humanitarian efforts of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for responding to the blood donation appeals and UAE Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Such an initiative supports and encourages all sectors and categories of the society. 

He also added that the Blood Transfusion and Research Center in Sharjah is the only regional centre in the UAE which supports and provides blood units for 35 public and private hospitals in the UAE. It also continuously coordinates and communicates with the health authorities and medical facilities in the UAE.
