Dubai: Pregnant women registered with Mediclinic Middle East hospitals such as Welcare and City Hospitals can heave a sign of relief as the healthcare provider has reached an agreement with all insurance providers.

As per the new agreement, there will be no change to existing insurance coverage or direct billing facilities at any Mediclinic facility.
Pregnant women registered with the provider were worried after learning that the hospital group had increased its annual tariff by five to six per cent, Gulf News reported in January.
If insurance companies did not accept the new tariff, pregnant women nearing their delivery date would be left with no option but to pay themselves or find another hospital.
The delayed agreement between Mediclinic Middle East hospitals and a few insurance companies raised alarm among expectant mothers in Dubai.
Insurance companies also questioned the increased tariff. The matter was referred to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
The new tariff was supposed to take effect from January 1, 2013. The date was deferred until the end of January.
The new tariff did not directly affect patients. However it affected insurance companies, and indirectly patients who have sought maternity insurance cover.
The company sent a notice to patients stating: Mediclinic Middle East has been in discussions with your medical insurance provider regarding our proposed tariff for 2013. We are pleased to inform you that an agreement has been reached with all insurance providers.
