Sharjah:A 30-year-old German man died on Thursday when his motorcycle crashed at Al Badyer area of Sharjah.

The victim was riding a Polaris motorcycle which turned over several times due to speed that is believed to be a factor in the man’s death.

An official at the Department of Traffic and Patrols at Sharjah Police said the incident was caused by speeding and reckless driving, and that the victim was killed on the spot due to the strong impact of the crash.

No other vehicle was involved and the incident, according to police, was a result of the motorist’s negligence.

An ambulance, rescue teams and police patrols were dispatched to the site, and the body was taken to Al Madam hospital.

“We urge those driving motorcycles to adhere to the speed limit and avoid driving recklessly, as they are not only endangering their lives but the lives of others as well,” said the official.

He also added that motorcyclists should take safety precautions which include wearing fluorescent jackets and helmets.
